Airmont deputy mayor Brian Downey (left) was arrested after authorities found a cache of 16 unregistered assault weapons and fake federal badges (right) that said he was in the FBI in his home. Police were issued a search warrant after being tipped off by the Department of Homeland Security that he purchased a rifle suppression device online. Authorities say Downey's basement had a 'gun room' with a black wall displaying  over a dozen firearms displayed and more on a rack against another wall. When authorities opened a lockbox they found several fake federal badges and credentials, including multiple FBI badges with his name and signature
