Slain Bronx mom's ex-boyfriend charged with murder for allegedly slitting her throat, leaving son with body

A 22 year-old man has been arrested in the knifing death of his ex-girlfriend, whose 2-year-old son was left with her body in their apartment, police said. Darrin Rose of the Bronx is facing murder, manslaughter, assault and weapons possession charges in the slaying of Zoila Feliz. Feliz’s worried mom found her body at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday inside the young woman’s Stratford Ave. apartment near Westchester Ave. in Soundview. She told police no one answered the doorbell, but Feliz’s son Jaylen was crying on the other side of the front door. The building superintendent let Feliz’s mom access the fire escape, and through the window she saw her daughter lying in a pool of blood near the front door with a deep gash across her throat. Bronx woman savagely slashed and stabbed to death in apartment Jaylen was unharmed, cops said. Police allege Rose cut Feliz’s throat and stabbed her in the stomach during an argument in the bedroom. The woman ran to get help but collapsed. The city Medical Examiner declared Feliz’s death a homicide early Thursday. Police identified Rose — Jaylen’s father — as a person of interest at the beginning of the investigation. Disgraced ex-Bronx priest cleared in S&M sex scandal Rose requested a lawyer as soon as he was brought in for questioning, but detectives had enough evidence to charge him, police sources said. His arraignment was pending Thursday. Police sources said Rose and Feliz had broken up, but he would constantly show up at the apartment to see his son. It was not immediately disclosed what the two were fighting about when Feliz was killed. The murdered mom was planning a party for little Jaylen when she died, her friends said. “She was bubbly, and devoted to her son,” friend Gremaris Colon told the News Wednesday. “His second birthday is today. She had a party all planned out, and then this happens.”
