Driver in Halloween terror attack identified as 29-year-old Sayfullo Saipov, man from Florida

The terrorist driver accused of plowing a rented truck through a Halloween crowd of bicyclists and pedestrians in Lower Manhattan has been identified as a a native of Uzbekistan with a Florida identification. Sources said Sayfullo Saipov of Tampa jumped a curb along the West Side highway and rumbled along a bike and pedestrian path crushing people in the unsuspecting crowd shortly after 3 p.m. Eight people were killed in the attack. Six died on the scene, and two died later at an area hospital. Saipov, 29, who was driving a truck believed to have been rented in Jersey City, lives in Paterson, the sources said.
