Men stole dump truck, ATM

Police are looking for two men who ripped an ATM from the side of a Covington Twp. grocery store Tuesday using a dump truck stolen from a nearby residential development. The two men pulled up to Bill’s ShopRite on the Drinker Turnpike in Covington Twp. at 1:53 a.m. and attached a chain to the ATM, state police at Dunmore said. The other end of the chain was attached to a 2005 Chevrolet truck bearing the words “Thornhurst Country Club Estates” on the side. They pulled away and the ATM smashed through a glass door, spraying sparks as the truck dragged it along the parking lot. The men wore ski masks and gloves. One wore all black and gray sneakers and the other wore a Carhartt-style jacket and blue jeans, state police said. Both had their hoods pulled up. The theft was captured on surveillance video. A portion of the ATM was found on Dorantown Road not far away, state police said. The vehicle used in the ATM theft was stolen from a maintenance building at the Thornhurst Twp. development. In that case, the thieves smashed the window of the building and stole the truck sometime between 1 p.m. on Monday and 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The cab of the truck is white and the bed is black. A snow plow and salt spreader is attached to the truck. Anyone with information is asked to call the state police at 570-963-3156.
